People have many excuses for not stopping negative habits and behaviors, as doing it makes them feel better. That's how we get ourselves trapped in the circle of "feeling bad - distract": too much drinking, gambling, eating, working, shopping - it has many names and endless variables. In the end, the pattern is just the same - covering up unwanted feelings with something that gives you temporary pleasure.
